SEVEN RULES FOR EMPLOYEES FROM THIRD COUNTRIES DURING THE STATE OF EMERGENCY

  1. New foreign workers are not admitted!
The reception of applications for residence permits is suspended at Embassies of the Czech Republic. Short-stay visa procedures have been stopped, long-stay visa and residence permits have been aborted. A work permit for the purposes of a short-stay visa will be issued by the Employment Office, but the residence permit will not.
  2. Applications on the territory of the Czech republic can be submitted by post!
All applications concerning an employee card, a blue card or an internally transferred employee card (new application, extension of an existing card, the change of an employer or a job title) can be submitted by post (by registered mail to the address of the relevant department of the Ministry of the Interior)!
  3. Decisions will be sent by post!
Confirmation for the issue of an employee card, a blue card or an internally transferred employee card will be sent on request of foreigners by post! The decision on the issue of the card will be sent together with the confirmation. A work permit may also be sent by post.
  4. Work on short-stay visas
If the validity of your work permit and short-stay visa for employment purposes expires during the emergency state, it will be extended at least until the end of the emergency state. The condition is the extension of the employment contract (or work activity agreement), with the same conditions.
  5. Biometric cards
Biometric data are taken mainly from citizens who have newly entered the Czech Republic and who do not yet hold a biometric card.
  6. The change of an employer or employment to another job position
If you hold an employee card, you can change your employer even sooner than after 6 months. You can also start working at another job position with another employer. The vacant job must be registered in the central register of vacant jobs occupied by employee card holders, unless the employer is an employment agency. Any change or additional employment you must report to the Ministry of the Interior under standard conditions.
  7. You have the right to equal treatment just as Czech employees!
If your employer has to dismiss you because of impacts of the epidemic, he should help you to register at the Employment Office or otherwise solve your situation (e.g. returning home). At the end of the emergency state, the adherence to working conditions at employers will be checked. Tell us if your employer is abusing your vulnerable position or if you have any other problem
